It all began in the winter of 1997/98. Based on a suggestion from the Fushigi Yuugi Mailing List, Maxi Rose created the original Fushigi Soudan. For about a year, dozens of writers contributed on a regular basis to what eventually became a massive group fanfic. At least a hundred different characters populated the vast world of Fushigi Soudan; an entirely new set of mikos and seishi were thought up, and were set loose in the world that Watase Yuu had created.

And then it all fell apart. Continuity problems abounded; list members disappeared without warning, and no one knew exactly where or even when their characters were. For months, no one posted anything. We all assumed that Fushigi Soudan was dead.

But now it's back, resurrected like a phoenix from its own ashes, if you'll forgive the silly metaphor ^_^; FS has begun again, starting with the proverbial clean slate, and now that we've got tons of experience from the original FS, it's bound to be just as rewarding... and hopefully, likely to continue a bit longer than the original did ^^;;

The basic premise of both FS2 and the original FS? Some indefinite time in the future after the events of Fushigi Yuugi have ended, new sets of seishi are born in each of the four countries in the FY world. And the book pulls in four new mikos, continuing the cycle that was begun who knows how long ago. This means, of course, that all four countries will soon be in danger....
