The Neighbors-February 20, 1999; Alfred L. Henken, 74, a resident of the Continental Manor Nursing Home, Randolph, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at the home. The funeral was Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Bob Hekhuis officiated. Burial was in the Alto Cemetery, Alto, Wis. Mr. Henken wasborn May 15, 1924, in the town of Trenton, son of Ralph and Frances (Vant Hoff) Henken. He was married to Avorah Bresser. After their marriage they moved to the town of Chester where he farmed all of his life until his death began to fail. He was a past board member of the Christian Home, Waupun and a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun, where he served as deacon. Survivors include his wife, Avorah; one daughter, Noreen (Allen) Van Buren of Fox Lake; one son Ross (Georgia "Judy") Henken of Burnett; four granddaughters, Trisha Van Buren (finance Cory Kok), Kim Van Buren, Ellie Henken and Joell Henken; one brother, Bernes (Mildred) Henken of Burnett; his mother-in-law, Nellie Bresser of Juneau; one brother-in-law, David (Judy) Bresser of Burnett; and one sister-in-law, Ruth (Wiebe) Buwalda of Waupun. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends called on Monday, Feb. 15, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the church. |
