Mrs. Hubert Duitman, 50, Died Saturday; Funeral Services Held Wednesday Mrs. Hubert Duitman, 50, died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's hospital where she had been confined for the past three weeks with a heart ailment. Mrs. Duitman, the former Alice Van Buren, was born Jan. 8, 1900 in the town of Alto, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Van Buren. She was married June 14, 1923, to Hubert Duitman at Alto. The couple had resided in the village of Alto for many years. Survivors include the widower, three sisters, Mrs. Corneil Bronkhorst and Mrs. John B. Vossekuil, Waupun, and Mrs. Barney Vande Berg, Brandon, and five brothers, Edward Van Buren, Alto, John and James Van Buren, Fair Water, Aldert Van Buren of the town of Trenton, and Arthur Van Buren, Waupun. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred in 1933. The body lay in state in the Kohls Funeral home until Wednesday morning when it was taken to the residence in the village of Alto. Services were held at the residence at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and at the Alto Reformed church at 2 p.m. The Rev. H. B. Poppen officiated at the services. Burial was made in the Alto cemetery. The Waupun Leader News-Oct. 26, 1950: Services Were Held in Alto for Mrs. Duitman Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 18, for Mrs. Hubert Duitman, 50, who died Saturday evening, Oct. 14. The services were held at 1:30 p.m. in the Duitman home in the village of Alto and at 2 p.m. in the Alto Reformed church, with the Rev. H. B. Poppen officiating. Vocal selections were griven by a quaret composed of Leonard Bruins, Lawrence Tavs, Gorden Vande Zande, and Clayton Bruins. Pallbearers were, Elmer, Ellsion, and Ellsworth Van Buren, Elmer Bronkhorst, Earl Wessels, and Donald Duitman. Burial was made in the Alto cemetery. |

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Hubert Duitman, 98, of 231 N. Meadows Drive, Soiux Center, Iowa, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998 in Sioux Center, Iowa. The funeral was Monday, Jan. 12, at the Alto Christian Reformed Church, Alto, Wis. The Rev. John Tousley officiated. Burial was in the Alto Cemetery, Alto, Wis. Mr. Duitman was born Dec. 15, 1899 in the township of Alto, Wis., son of Luther and Dora (Kempers) Duitman. He was married to Alice Van Buren in 1923, and later to Ethal Lammers on Aug. 31, 1951. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Sioux Center, Iowa, a former member of the Alto Reformed Church and the Alto Christian Reformed Church. He resided in the Alto area until 1968 when he then moved to Florida and then Iowa. He was former employee of McNess Products as a salesman for 22 years, Alto Creamery and with his father and a painter and paper hanger. Survivors include one son, Henry (Lisa) Duitman of Sioux Center, Iowa; two granddaughters, Elayna Duitman, Boston, Mass., and Jennifer Duitman, Sioux Center, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alice, in 1950; his second wife, Ethal, in 1994; one daughter, Mildred Duitman; four brothers, infant Harry, Edwin, Harry II and Elmer; two sister, Dorothy Wessels and Laura Wessels. Friends called on Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Monday, Jan. 12, at the church. |
