Alvin Herbert Pobanz, Sr.

Daily Citizens: Waupun-Alvin H. Pobanz, 87, of Waupun, died Saturday evening, Aug. 18, 2007, at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam where he has resided the past couple of months. Alvin was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Waupun, the son of Alfred and Laura (Bence) Pobanz. On March 9, 1940, he married June Brown in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple resided in Waupun all their married life. Al was employed at Ideal Shoe Factory in Waupun for 38 yeras and later worked at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac for nine years. He was a veteran of the the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun. Al is survived by a son, Alvin L. (Jeanne) Pobanz, Waupun; a daughter, Lorna Pobanz, Waupun; two grandchildren, Brian Pobanz, Omro, and Heather Pobanz, Waupun; a great-grandson, Matthew; a sister-in-law, Louise Howard, Waupun; a niece, Kathy (Kerry) Kirchoff, Waupun; a nephew, David (Sue) Howard, Waupun; and a friend and care giver, Kim Fromolz, Waupun. He was preceded in death by his wife, June, in 1972. Funeral serives will be held on Thursday, Aug 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun. Burial will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Friends and relatives may call at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun on Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 23 from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30a.m. time of service. American Legion Post 210 will provide military rites at the graveside. Werner-Harmsen Funeral and staff, Waupun, is serving the family.

Funeral serives for Mrs. Alvin Pobanz, 54, will be held Friday, Sept 29, at 1 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kenneth Kohl will officate. Burial will be in Forest Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at Kohls Company Funeral Home, from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, and at the church from Friday noon until the service. Mrs. Pobanz died Tuesday, Sept. 26. She was born July 26, 1918, in Kankakee, Ill., the daughter of Ira and Esther Kubehl Broun. She was married to Alvin Pobanz. She attended Waupun Schools and was a resident of Waupun most of her life. She was a member of Immanuel Church and its societies. Mrs. Pobanz was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her widower: one son, Alvin, Jr., Waupun; one daughter, Lorna, at home; two grandchildren; one brother, Lester, Green Lake terrace; and one sister, Mrs. John Howard, Waupun.
