Death Claims Mrs. Van Veen Wednesday The sudden death of Mr. Arthur Van Veen, 44, occurred Wednesday while she was working at her home 3 1/2 miles northwest of Alto. Mrs. Van Veen is well known in this community, having spent her entire life in this locality. She was born in Waupun in 1884, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gerretsen. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Janet, of Alto, one brother, Herman Gerretsen, of near Waupun, and three sisters, Mrs. John M. Vande Zande of near Waupun, Mrs. Myron Hilyar of Deerwood, Minn., and Mrs. Thomas Vande Zande of Luverne, Minn. Funeral services will be held at the home at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon and at the First Reformed church of Alto at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Schroeder and Rev. J. H. Kregel will officiate. Burial will be made at Alto. |

Arthur Van Veen, 71, Brandon, Died Sunday: Services Held Tuesday Arthur Van Veen, 71, a resident of Brandon, died at noon Sunday in St. Agnes hospital, following a long illness. Mr. Van Veen was born Nov. 12, 1879, in the Netherlands, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Van Veen. He came to Wisconsin with his parents, who settled in the town of Trenton. On March 30, 1904, he was married to Anna Gerritson, who preceded him indeath, On Oct. 12, 1932, he married Christina Vande Zande, Waupun. He had resided in the vicinity of Waupun until moving to brandon 14 years ago. Survivors include the widow, a daughters, Miss Jeanette Van Veen, of Minneapolis, a brother, Derek Van Veen of Denver, Colo., three sisters, Mrs. Mary Mulder and Mrs. Hannah Veleke, Waupun, and Mrs. Ella Damsteegt, Brandon, one grandson, and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Evelyn, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Norris Funeral home, and at 2 p.m. in the Bethal Reformed church. The Rev. J. S. Ter Louw officiated. Burial was in the Alto cemetery. |
