Funeral services for August Pobanz, 84, who died Friday morning at his home on Taylor Street, were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock from the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the pastor, the Rev. W.E. Staehling, officiating. His death resulted from heart troulbe with which he had been afflicated for the past year and half. He was not seriously ill, howeveruntil about a week befor his death. Mr. Pobanz was born in the Northern part of Germany on Feb. 5, 1848, and moved to this county when he was about 25 years old. He came to Waupun immediatley, and made this city his home for approximatley the past 60 years. His marriage to Miss Margaret Helmer of East Waupun took place on July 15, 1878. She died in 1915. Mr. Pobanz has been a tailor most of his life, and worked in the same store while the business changed hands. At the time of his death he was employed at the Hub Clothing store. Surviving relatives are four of his own children, Oscar of Chicago, Otto of Lamartine, Mrs. Walter Robbins and Alfred Pobanz of this city, and an adopted son, Mike Helmer of Chicago. There is one sister, Mrs. Minnie Schalaack of Owosso, Mich. Pallbearers at the services Monday were Mike Helmer of Chicago, Julius Haeft, Alfred Schwandt of South Bend, Ind., Lyle Bork, Walter Luck, and Arnold Pobanz. People from away who attended the serivces here were: Mrs. Minnie Schlaack, Mrs. Ed Lynch, and Otto Schlaack of Owosso, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Baumann, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pobanz, Mr. and Mrs. William Pobanz, Mr. Wichner of Randolph; and Mrs. Al Bearder of Waukesha. Mrs. Amelia Robbins, Mrs. Belle Darling, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Howk, Mike Helmer all of Chicago; and Mrs. Ralph Addy of Tyler, Minn.

Mrs. August Pobanz died at her home in this city Sunday morning, Oct. 22nd, 1916, after three years of patient suffering cancer. Margaret Helmer was born in Waupun May 8th, 1858, spending most of life time in this city. She was married to August Pobanz July 15th, 1880. To them was born three sons and one daughter-Oscar, of Fond du Lac; Otto, Alfred and Clara (Mrs. Walter Robbins) of this city, who, with the devoted husband, survive to mourn the loss of a beloved wife and mother. She is also survived by two sisters, and one brother- Mrs. Wm T. Coyle of this city, Mrs. Emma Fewer and John Helmer of Chicago, and four grandchildren. Mrs. Pobanz was a true friend and a good neighbor, ever ready to give a helping hand in time of need. One deed worthy of mention was the rearing of a nephew, Michael Helmer, (now a lad of 14 years) bringing him with her from Chicago, a child of three months, the mother passing away in hospital. He will miss her in days to come, as she been more than a mother. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and 2:00 from the Ev. Lutheran Immanuel Church, Rev. Gammelin of Beaver Dam officiating, (Rev. Staehling being absent). Interment in Forest Mound Cemetery. Among relatives present at the last sad rites wers-Oscar Pobanz, wife, son and daughter, of Fond du Lac; Mrs. Emma Fewer, John Helmel, daughter and son of Chicago; Miss Sarah M. Coyle of Milwaukee; Mrs. H. Schwan and Miss Anna Lidner of Loyal.
