Mrs. Christina Bronkhorst, 89, a resident of Waupun Christian Home for 1 1/2 years, died there Thursday. Nov. 18. Born Nov. 12, 1887, in the Town of Alto, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Aanjen Westhuis Van Buren. She was married to Cornelius Bronkhorst in the town of Alto Jan. 16, 1908. The couple farmed in Dodge County most of their married life, before moving to Waupun and residing at 230 South State St. Mrs. Bronkhorst was a member of Alto Christian Reformed Church and an associate member of the Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include two sons, Elmer, Alto; and Raymond, Brandon; and four daughters, Mrs. Alice Rens, Mrs. William (Alvina) Hoekstra, Mrs. Lyle (Marion) Bresser and Mrs. Harold (Catherine) DeMotts, all of Waupun. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Barney (Jenny) Vande Berg, Brandon. She was preceded in death by her husband May 23, 1965, and by a son, two infant daughters, two great-grandchildren, six brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Alto Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Gerald DeVries officiated. Burial followed in Alto Cemetery. Visitation was held at Kohls Co., Funeral Home, Waupun, and at the church from noon Saturday until the time of services. |

A lifelong resident of the area, Cornelius Bronkhorst, was buried in Alto Cemetery May 25 following services at the Alto Christian Reformed Church. Rev. William Dykstra was in charge of the service. Mr. Bronkhorst, 230 South State street, died May 23 at Waupun Memorial hospital. He was born Jan. 6, 1889 in the Town of Alto. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bronkhorst. On Jan. 16, 1908 he married Christana Van Buren. The couple farmed in the Towns of Alto and Waupun for many years prior to Mr. Bronkhorst retirement. Survivors include his widow; three sons - Elmer and Raymond of Brandon and Clarence of Beaver Dam; four daughters - Mrs. Alice Rens, Mrs. Harold DeMotts and Mrs. Lyle Bresser all of Waupun, and Mrs. William Hoekstra, Alto; two sisters - Mrs. Henry Vossekuil, Waupun, and Mrs. John Boom, Alto; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and two sisters. |

The Leader News-Wednesday-December 27, 1972; Clarence M. Bronkhorst, 59, 1004 McArthur drive, Beaver Dam, died suddenly Friday, Dec. 22, at Beaver Dam Community Hillside hospital unit. Funeral services for Mr. Bronhkorst were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, in First Lutheran church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Birkeland officiated. Interment was in Highland Memory Gardens. Mr. Bronkhorst was born Oct. 2, 1913, in Waupun, the son of Mrs. Cornelius Bronkhorst and the late Mr. Bronkhorst. He was married Dec. 7, 1940, to former Nada Tank who preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1964. He was later married to the former Helene Schmude . He was president of the Tri-County Trotter club and was active in horse racing. He was in the sand and gravel business for 17 years in Beaver Dam. Survivors include his widow, Helene his mother, Waupun; two brothers, Elmer and Raymond, Brandon; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Rens, Mrs. William Hoekstra, Mrs. Lloyd Bresser, and Mrs. Harold DeMotts, Waupun; nieces and nephews, Waupun. He was preceded by his first wife, father, and twin sisters. Murray funeral home, Beaver Dam, was in charge of arrangements. |
