Doyle Smis, 67, m of 399 Fond du Lac St., Waupun, died Wednesday, March 5, 1980, after an apparent heart attack.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday at the Werner-Harman Funeral home with the Rev. Donald Boss officiating. Burial ia at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton.
Smits was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Brandon to Henry and Anna (Van Buren) Smits. He married the former Dorothy Van Loo in Waupun.
Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the Trenton and Burnett area until retiring and move to Waupun in 1973. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Waupun.
Suriving are; his wife; a son Jerry of Waupun; a daughter, Karen (Floyd) Brandenburg of Waupun; four grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie (John) Heideman of Waupun and Minnie (Edward) Peters of Waupun.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home until the time of services Friday.

WAUPUN - Dorothy Smits, 87, of Waupun, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at the Christian Home where she has been residing.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Rick Boon will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Dorothy was born on Jan. 24, 1917, in the town of Alto, the daughter of Albert and Ella (Riel) Van Loo. She married Doyle Smits on Sept. 18, 1936 at the First Reformed Church, Waupun.

The couple farmed in the town of Trenton and Burnett until retiring from farming in 1973 when they moved to Waupun. Dorothy then worked at Mid State Shoe Factory and later at Helen's Kitchen of Waupun. She enjoyed caring and mending for her loving family. She was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church, Waupun.

Survivors include one son, Jerry (Lois) Smits, Waupun; one daughter, Karen (Floyd) Brandenburg, Waupun; four grandchildren, Dean Brandenburg, Debra Powers, Lynnae (Mitchell) Shaw, and Jason Smits; eight great-grandchildren, Grant Powers, Jordan Shaw, Mason Shaw, Kiadon Shaw, Jaedlyn Giese, Kiarra Smits, Kodi Kiezer and Dylan Shreves; two brothers, Raymond (Cornelia) Van Loo, Waupun, and Alvin (Irene) Van Loo, Randolph; one sister, Josephine Van Buren, Waupun; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, and two brothers, James and Elton Van Loo.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Friday, July 30, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
