PORTAGE REGISTER-DEMOCART, JAN. 2, 1947; AGED RESIDENT IS CALLED BY DEATH Mrs. Charles Vesley, Sr., 80, passed away early this morning, following an extended illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oswald Huebner at 608 W. Pleasent Street, where she has resided while her husband has been contined at the hospital during his recent illness. The remains are resting at the Murison Funeral Chapel where friends may call until 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at which time the funeral Cortege will form at the Chapel and proced to St. Mary's Church where services will he held at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Fr. J.B. Piette will officiate and interment will be made on the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. PORTAGE REGISTER-DEMORCAT, JAN. 6, 1947; VESELY SERVICE HELD SATURDAY AT ST. MARY'S: Requiem mass was offered by the Rev. Fr. Gilbert Carlton for Mrs. Charles Vesely, Sr., on Saturday morning, January 4 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Assisting at the mass were Norbert and John Amend, grandchildren of Mrs. Vesely, and Wayne Huebner, a great-grandchild, Mrs. Vesley, nee Emma Seibel was born March 13, 1886, and passed away January 2 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.E. Huebner; She is survived by her husband and six children; Mrs. Huebner, Charles J. Vesley; Miss Nellie Vesely, Chicago; Mrs. William Amend, Mrs. George Devine and BJ Vesley of Chicago. There are also 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren,one grandchild and two great-grandchildren preceded her in death. A Sister William Dunn, Prentice, also survices. The pall beaers all grandsons were; Edward Hubner, Roger Vesely, Kenneth Amend, William Huebner, B.J. Amend and Dan Devine. Interment was made in St. Mary's Cemetery. |

Charles Vesley, Sr., Is Injured By Auto Struck by Car At Intersection Charles Vesley, sr., 82, 307 Edgewater street, sustained a broken leg and head injuries at 7:30 p.m. yesturday when struck by an automoblie driven by Thomas J. Cline, 630 E. Conant street, at the intersection of Wisconsin Cook, and Clark streets. Vesely is well-known to many Portage residents, having worked here as a tailor for many years with Goodman's Buckley and Leisch, and in his own shop. Walking east on the south side of Cook street, he was hit by the left front fender of the car as Cline turned south from West Cook street onto West Wisconsin Street. Passersby who gathered around him after the accident reported that was conscious all of the time. The crowd remained until an ambulance took him to St. Savior's hospital for medical treatment. He was in a satisfactory condition today, his son, Charles Vesley, reported. The Poratge Register-May 25, 1948: Charles Vesely Passes Away; Ill For Many Months Charles Vesely. Sr. 83, 307 Edgewater died at Divine Savior's hospilal, after un extended illness. Survivors are two sons Charles, Jr. of Portage and Benjamin of Whiting, Indiana. Four daughters (Mayme) Mrs. Oswald Hueber, (Anna)-Mrs. William Amend, (Rose) Mrs. George Devine of Portage und Miss Nell Vesely of Chicago, Ill., and a number of other near relatives. The remains are resting at the Murison-Pflanz Funeral Chapel where friends may call from 11:00 A. M. Wednesday morning until 8:45 A. M. Thursday morning at which time the funeral Cortege will form at the Chapel and proceed to St. Mary's church where services will be held at 9:30 A. M. Thursday. The Very Rev. J. B. Piette officiate and the interment will he made on the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Vrsely was a tailor by trade and was employed by the Duckley and Leitsch Men's Clothing company and owned his own tailoring shop for many years, He has been retired for the past ten years. He was hospitalized for the past 20 months as the result of being hit by an automobile on September 23, 1946. |
