The Neighbors-March 21, 1998: BRANDON - Greg Navis, 15, of Brandon, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at his home after a long and courageous fight with cancer. The funeral was Wednesday, March 18, at Alto Reformed Church, Alto. The Rev. David Klanderman officiated. Burial was in Alto Cemetery in Alto. Greg was born Dec. 11, 1982 in Beaver Dam, the son of Gary and Marlene Pluim Navis. He was a freshman at Waupun High School and was an avid sportman. He especially enjoyed baseball, fishing and golf, and was a collector of sports cards. He was also member of the Alto All Star 4-H Club and was an active member of Alto Reformed Church. Survivors include his parents, Marlene and Gary Navis; one sister, Janell at home; maternal grandparents, Phyllis and George Pluim of Waupun; paternal grandfather, Maynard Navis of Brandon; paternal step-grandmother, Vickie Navis of Brandon; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Bernice Navis. Friends called on Tuesday, March 17, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Wednesday, March 18, at the church.
