The Waupun Leader-Feb. 26, 1948; Mrs. John Gerretson, 66, died in her home at 231 Walker street Thursday night as the result of a cerebral homorrage sustained a few hours earlier. Mrs. Gerretson the former Gertrude Van Loenen, was born Jan. 5, 1882, in the Netherlands. She came to America when a small child, residing in the town of Trenton with her parents until her marriage to Mr. Gerretson on May 2, 1902. She was a member of the First Reformed church and of the Women's Missionary society of the church. Survivors include the widower, three daughters, Mrs. Albert Gruhn and Mrs. Roland Peters of Waupun; and Mrs. Raymond Bennett of Beaver Dam; two sons, Delmar of Horicon and Russell of Waupun; a sister, Mrs. John Van Buren of the town of Chester, and two brothers, Gerrit Van Loenen of Reedsburg, and John Van Loenen of Waukeska. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Beyers Funeral home and at 2 p.m. in the First Reformed church. The Rev. Anthony Van Harn officiated at the services. Burial was made in Forest Mound cemetery, Serving as pallbearers were Carleton and Francis Kempfer, John and Earl Van Buren, William Gerretson, and Donald Lauson, West Bend. |

Service Was Held Wednesday Afternoon for John Gerritsen John H. Gerritsen, 80, 213 Walkcr street, died Monday morning in the Waupun Memorl hoapital following a brief Illness. Funeral service were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Beyers Funeral home with the Rev. William Rosenberg offilating. Burial was in Forest Mound cemetery. Six grandsons, Jack Gerrltsen, Roland Peters, Richard and Gerald Gruhn, Ronald Bennett, and Dean Gerritsen, served as pallbearers Mr. Gerritsen waa born June 22, 1881, in the Netherlands, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Gerritsen. He was married Gertrude Van Loenen on May 20, 1902. Mrs. Gerritsen preceded him in death Feb. 19, 1948. He was a member of the First Reformed church of Waupun, and was employed by Breyer Brothers, Whiting and company prior to his retirement. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Roland Peters, Mrs. Albert Gruhn, and Mrs. Raymond Bennett; and two sons, Delmar and Russell, all of Waupun; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Harry, Waupun, James, Fontana. Calif., and Elmer, Randolph. His wife, his parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. |
