Dick Lentz, 15, Dies of Auto Crash lnjuries Wednesday
Richard Lentz. 15, son of Mr. and Mrs- Harry Lend of Randolph, died at St- Joseph's Hospital in Beaver Dam at about 3:45 Wednesday afternoon of injuries sustained in an auto accident shortly before 11:00 o'clock Wednesday morning. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Gabriel's Church at Randolph. Burial will be at Randolph Cemetery. Friends may pay their last respects at the
J. P. Schmidt Funeral Home after 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Lentz was riding in a car driven by Warren Stone, 17, of Randolph. The two boys were traveling east on the south road to Fox Lake, which is a gravel surface road. They overtook a car driven by JohnGrebel just west of the Grebel farm driveway and as the car swung out to pass the Grebel car, Stone apparently lost control of the car as he first became aware of a truck approaching  from the east.
As young Stone regained control  of the car he swuny toward the ditch in the north side of the road. The truck driver, trying to avoid a colliaion, also headed for the ditch. The truck struck the car directly at the right door  where Dick Lentz was sitting. The Impact drove the right side of'the car almost to the left and the force was enough to knock the front wheels off the truck.
The truck was a farm truck owned by the I. K. Mayr Seed and Feed Co. of Beaver Dam and was driven by Sheldon E. Schafer of route 2. Columbus.
Both boys were taken to St. Joseph's Hoapital and Warren Stone was released Wednesday afternoon after It was found that he had suffered a cracked knee cap and bruises.
