Obit - Jacob Riel Passed Away on Wednesday Jacob Riel, 77, died at 7:30 Wednesday morning, at the home of his son, Gerrit, who lives seven miles west of the city on the County Line road. Mr. Riel had been ill for about two weeks with pneumonia. Born Mar. 10, 1851, in Holland, Mr. Riel came to this country a good many years ago. He is survived by three sons, Gerrit, John, and Jacob, and one daughter. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:30 from the home, and at 2 o'clock from the Alto Presbyterian church. The Rev. J.S.Ter Louw of this city will officiate. Waupun Leader Thursday February 7, 1929. He was buried on Feb 8 1929 in Presbyterian Cemetery, Alto, WI. |

DEATHS -- MRS. JACOB RIEL Mrs. Jacob Riel died at her home on the County Line road Friday evening at the age of 70 years. She was born Aug. 8, 1855, in Holland and grew to womanhood there. In February, 1882, she married Jacob Riel and they came to America and have resided near Waupun since. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Jacob of Fairwater, John of Trenton, and Garret of Alto; four daughters, Mrs. A. Van Loo of Alto, Mrs. George Pater and Mrs. Harry Pater of Waupun, and Mrs. Van Ruiswyk of Trenton; one sister, Mrs. A. Nummedor of Waupun; and twenty-one grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the residence at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon and from the Presbyterian Church at Alto at 2 o'clock. The Rev. B. Waupun, WI-Gerrit J. Riel passed away suddenly at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr and Mrs. Harry Pater in the Town of Waupun. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 27, at 2:00 p.m. from the Beyers funeral home. Rev. William Rosenberg will officiate at the service and interment will be at the Alto Cemetery. The late Mr. Riel was born July 28, 1883, in Alto the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Riel. He was married November 5 1909 to Jennie Miller. Survivors are: one brother, John Riel of Waupun, three sisters, Mrs. Harry Pater of the Town of Waupun, Mrs. Henry Van Ruiswyk of Waupun and Mrs. Albert Van Loo of Alto. Preceding in death were: his parents, his wife; one brother and two sisters. The late Mr. Riel was a member of the First Reformed Church. He had farmed in the Town of Alton until 1935 and since that time had resided in the Town of Waupun. |

Hold Services Friday for Mrs. Gerrott Riel Funeral services for Mrs. Gerrit Riel, aged 69, who died Tuesday at St. Agnes hospital in Fond du Lac, will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Riel home five miles west of town of the County line road and at 2 o'clock from the First Reformed church. Burial will be at Forest Mound cemetery. Mrs. Riel is survived by her husband and three brothers, Ernest and Edward of Waupun and Charles of Milwaukee, and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Heideman, Mrs. Dick Abholt, and Mrs. William Miller. The Rev. J. Klerekoper of Friesland will conduct the funeral services. |

Obituary--Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30, at Kohls company funeral home for Mrs. Mary (Harry) Pater, 87, a resident of Continental Manor Nursing Home, Randolph. Mrs. Pater died Thursday evening, June 28, at Hillside hospital, Beaver Dam. She was born Oct. 25, 1885, in the town of Alto, the daughter of Jacob and Jesse Fidder Riel. She was married to Harry (Hendrikus) Pater in 1912 in the town of Alto. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1964. The couple farmed in the town of Waupun most of their married life. She was a member of First Reformed Church. Survivors include one brother, John Riel, Waupun; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Van Ruiswyk and Mrs. Albert Van Loo, both of Waupun; and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. The Rev. Donald Boss officated at the 2 p.m. services. Burial was in the Alto cemetery. |

A lifelong resident of the area, Harry Pater died Feb 15 at the North Shore Manor Nursing Home in Fox Lake. Funeral service for Mr. Pater were held Feb 19, at Beyers Funeral Home and The First Reformed Church Feb 19, Rev. William Rosenberg conducted the service. Burial was in Alto Cemetery. Mr. Pater was born Oct 20, 1883 in Waupun, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pater. He married Mary Riel, Nov 3, 1912. The couple farmed in the area most their married life.
