The Leader News-Jan. 26&27, 1982: Funeral services for James Vant Hoff, 78, 701 Rock River Drive, Waupun, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 26, at Alto Reformed Church. The Rev. Cornie Keunen officiated. Burial was in Alto Cemetery. Visitation was held at Kohls Funeral Home in Waupun Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. Mr. Vant Hoff died Jan. 24, 1982, at Waupun Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1903, in the town of Trenton, a son of the late Jacob and Bessie Ten Hoppe Vant Hoff. He was married to the former Dorothy Prange Feb. 25, 1930, in the town of Waupun. He farmed in the Alto area since their marriage moving to the city of Waupun in 1971. A member of Alto Reformed Church he had served as an elder and a deacon. Survivors include his widow; one son, Gerald Vant Hoff, Sr., Waupun; one daughter, Janice Sweet, Oconomowoc; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Vande Zande and Mrs. Francis Henken, both of Waupun; and Mrs. Elizabeth Loomans, Alto. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

The Neighbors-May 5, 1999; Dorothy Vant Hoff, 89, a resident of the Harmony Manor, Waupun, died Thursday, April 22, 1999. The funeral was Monday, April 26, at the Alto Reformed Church, Alto, Wis., The Rev. Dave Klanderman officiated, Burial was in the Alto Cemetery. Mrs. Vant Hoff was born June 2, 1909, in the town of Waupun, daughter of John and Bessie (Rens) Prange, Sr. She was married to James Vant Hoff on Feb. 25, 1930, in the town of Waupun. She graduated in 1927 from Waupun High School, and farmed with her husband in the Alto area until retiring in 1971 when they moved to Waupun. She was a member of the Alto Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, Mission Circle, and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Survivors include one son, Jerry (Yvonne) Vant Hoff of Waupun; one daughter, Janice Thomas of Pheonix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Westerveld of Waupun; and one brother, John Prange, Jr. of Brandon. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother; and one granddaughter. Friends called on Sunday, April 25, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Monday, April 26, at the church.
