WAUPUN -- Lucille J. Kloostra, 74, formerly of Waupun, died on Monday, June 14, 2004, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 16, at 11 a.m., at the First Reformed Church, 422 W. Franklin St., Waupun. The Rev. Rick Boon will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery. Lucille was born on Nov. 6, 1929, in Fairwater, the daughter of John H. and Lucy (Hopp) Vant Hoff. She was united in marriage to Edward Kloostra on Oct. 27, 1950, in Waupun. The couple farmed in the Friesland area for five years and then moved to Waupun. Lucille was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked as a nursing assistant for the Christian Home and Waupun Memorial Hospital for several years. She then retired to provide daycare for her granddaughters. They enjoyed baking cookies together and roller-skating in the basement, building tree houses and other various activities. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Waupun. She was an avid gardener, often sharing her produce with family members and friends. She also had a love for flowers. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Clark) Harmsen, and Bonnie (Tom) Van Hierden, both of Waupun; five grandchildren, Desarae (Travis) Hull, Carissa Harmsen, Katie Van Hierden, Emily Van Hierden and Abby Van Hierden, all of Waupun; one sister, Bertha TerBeest, Waupun; one brother, Howard (Esther) Vant Hoff, Randolph; three sisters-in -law, Tillie Vant Hoff, and Clara Kloostra, both of Friesland, and Shirley Sjoerdsma, Randolph; and one brother-in-law, Peter (Mamie) Kloostra, Portage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1994; her parents; two brothers, Marvin and Ellsworth Vant Hoff; one sister, Junice Sjoerdsma, and five brothers-in-law, Roy TerBeest, Joe Sjoerdsma, Herman Kloostra, John (Alma) Kloostra and Leonard (Marie) Kloostra. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 16, from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the First Reformed Church, Waupun. The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family. Edward Kloostra, 67, N10417 Highway 26, Burnett, died Friday Feb. 25, 1994, at his home. Mr. Kloostra was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Friesland, the son of Joseph and Jennie (Havinga) Kloostra. He married Lucille Vant Hoff Oct. 27, 1950, at the First Reformed Church in Waupun. He farmed in the Friesland area prior to moving to Waupun where he had been empolyed by the Roets Dairy and later by the National Rivet & Mfg. Co., in Waupun until his retirement in April of 1992. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Waupun. Survivors include his wife, Lucille, Burnett; two daughters, Diane (Clark) Harmsen, and Bonnie (Tom) Van Hierden, both of Waupun; five grandchildren, Desarae and Carissa Harmsen and Katie, Emily and Abby Van Hierden, all of Waupun; one brother, Peter (Mayme) Kloostra, Randolph; one sister, Tillie Vant Hoff, Friesland. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, the former Rena Smits; three brothers and one infant sister. Funeral services were held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Reformed Church, Waupun, the Rev. Irven Jungling officiating. Interment was in Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun. Visitation was held on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., at Kohls Funeral Home, Waupun, and at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. |
