Lydia Hopp was born October 13, 1911 in Waupun, Wisconsin, and died June 28, 2002 in Waupun Christian Home, Waupun, Dodge County, Wisconsin.  She married George Gilbert Asmus September 21, 1935 in Waupun,  Wisconsin.  He was born February 11, 1912 in Chester Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin, and died August 21, 1986 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

WAUPUN - Lydia Asmus, 90, of Waupun, died Friday, June 28, 2002, at the Christian Home, Waupun.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m., at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. David Parrish will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Asmus was born on Oct. 13, 1911, in Waupun, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Van Buren) Hopp Sr. She was married on Sept. 21, 1933, to George Asmus in Waupun.

Mrs. Asmus and her husband farmed for several years and moved to Waupun in 1946. She was employed with Bear Brand Hosiery, Ideal Shoe Factory, and later worked with her husband in farm machinery and automobile sales. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun, and its Woman's Guild.

Survivors include one son, Alton (Mary) Asmus, Waupun; five grandchildren, Doug (Nancy) Asmus, Eagan, Minn., Stacey (Jeff) Manske, Waupun, Scott Asmus, Waupun, Stacy (Mark) Pritzl, Cedarburg and Shelley (Jon) Jeideman, North Fond du Lac; five great-grandchildren, Beau, Jed and Sadie Manske, and Natalie and Nicole Heideman; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Lloyd) Van Ess, Waupun, Irene Hopp, Waupun, Gertrude Hopp, Waupun, and Eileen Vant Hoff, Waupun; two brothers-in-law, Alvin (Sally) Vant Hoff, Waupun, and Clayton (Billie) Vant Hoff, Wilmington, Del.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1986, and five brothers.

Friends may call on Sunday, June 30, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Monday, July 1, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun.

George G. Asmus, 74, of 525 W. Brown St., Waupun, died Thurs., Aug. 21, 1986 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Milwaukee.
Mr. Asmus was born Feb. 11, 1912 to Mr. and Mrs. Vant Hoff in the Town of Chester, Dodge County. On Sept. 21, 1933 he married Lydia Hopp in rural Brandon. He owned and operated Asmus Motors with his sons for over 40 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun, where he had served on the consistory as both elder and deacon for many years. He taught Sunday School for over 20 years. Mr. Asmus was a member of the Wisconsin Auto and Truck Dealers Association as well as the Wisconsin Towing Organization, National Truck and Equipment Associtation, Fond du Lac Auto Body Association, Wisconsin Auto Collision Technician Association, National Association of Independent Business and Wisconsin Automotive Trades.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Alton of Waupun; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one half sister, Mrs. Dorothy Meenk of Waupun; three half brothers, Alvin and Marvin Vant Hoff, both of Waupun, Clayton Vant Hoff of Wilmington, Del.; one stepbrother, Charles Vant Hoff of Waupun.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and two stepbrothers.
Funeral services were held Sat. Aug. 23, 1986 at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Robert Hekhuis officiated. Burial is at Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun.
Kohl's Funeral Home, Waupun, was in charge of all arrangements.
