Dick Riel, 61, 221 Elm St, Oakfield, died Thursday, April 11, 1985, at Waupun memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec 23, 1923, in the town of Oakfield, a son of Jacob and Johanna Schears Riel. He married Fern Opperman on Sept. 11, 1943, in Waupun. The couple resided in the Oakfield area for their married life. He was employed by Mercury Marine for 29 years. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Oakfield.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert of Waupun, one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Ramona) Bennett of Taycheedah; two grandchildren; his mother of Randolph; three brothers, james of Fond du Lac, and George and Gordon, both of Waupun; and two sisters, Mrs. Warren (Minnie) Heideman and Mrs. Gordon (Jessie) perry, both of Waupun. He was preceded in death by his father, one son, and one sister. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Bitter officiated. Burial was in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
Vistation was at Kohl's Funeral Home in Waupun.
Mrs. Fern Riel, 62, of Elm Street, Oakfield, Wi., died Tues. May 6, 1986 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du lac, WI.
Mrs. Riel was born feb 17, 1924 in Coloma, WI., the daughter of Emil and Paulina Scharf Oppermann. On Sept. 11, 1943 shee married Dick riel in Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun. The couple resided in Oakfield all their married lives. She was employed at Mac Gregor Sand-Knit in Waupun for 14 years and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Oakfield.
Survivors include on son, Robert Riel of Waupun; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Ramona) Bennett of taycheedah; two grandchildren, Becky and Talana; three brothers, John Opperman, Barnard Oppermann, Landon Oppermann, all of Waupun; two sisters, Mrs. Dick (Donna) Vandee Berg of markesan and Mrs. Bonnie Bunker of Fox Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, one infant son, two brothers, and her parents.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 8, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Oakfield. The Rev. Robert Bitter officiated. Burial was in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
Kohl's Funeral Home, Waupun was in charge of all arrangements.
The services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Beyer's Funeral home with the Rev. Otto Mueller officiating. Burial was in Forest Mound cemetery. The parents are the only survivors.
