Winnerd Vant Hoff, 70 of 195 Ackerman Ave., Waupun, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 9, 1978. He was dead on arrival at Waupun Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Nov. 9, 1908, in the Town of Alto, a son of the late Albert and Della Vande Berg Vant Hoff. He was married to Nellie Boersma at Denver, Colo., Nov. 11, 1935. The couple came to Waupun in 1949., and she died Jan. 9, 1952, he was married to Cornelia Ver Meer Fischer at Waupun. Mr. Vant Hoff was employed as a meatcutter at Denver, Colo., and Waupun for most of his life. For the past several years he was an active volunteer worker at the Dodge County Sheltered Workshop at Beaver Dam. He was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun, served elder and also taught Bible school and Sunday School. Surviving are four brothers, Charles and Marvin, both of Waupun; Alvin, Rural Waupun; and Clayton, Wilmington, Del., a half-brother, George Asmus, Waupun; and a sister, Mrs. Marvin (Dorothy) Meenk, Waupun. A brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. George Chermak officiated. Burial was in Alto cemetery. Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kohls Funeral Home, Waupun, and at the church from noon Monday until the time of services. |

Mrs. Winnard Vant hoff, 39, died early this morning at Sunnyview Sanatorium, Oshkosh, where she had been confined since Tuesday. Mrs. Vant Hoff, the former Nellie Broersma, was born Feb. 18, 1910, in Raton, N. Mex. She was married to Mr. Vant Hoff in Denver, Colo., in 1935, and resided there until moving to Waupun a year ago. She is survived by the widower, one daughter, Ruth, at home, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Broersma, two sisters, Mrs. Bert Kuys and Miss Tillie Broersma, and one brother, William Broersma, all of Denver. The body will lie in state in the Kohls Funeral home from Friday evening until Monday noon. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Emmanuel Reformed church. The Rev. Gerrit Menning will officiate at the services and burial will be made in the Alto cemetery. Cora Vant Hoff, 90 a resident of the Christian Home, Inc., Waupun, died Monday, Feb. 21, 1994, at the home. Mrs. Vant Hoff was born Nov. 18, 1903, in the town of Alto, the daughter of Arie and Johanna (Slothauber) Ver Meer. She married Herbert Fischer in June 1925 in Brandon. He died Oct. 1, 1951: She then married Winnard Vant Hoff June 11, 1952. He preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1978. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun and also a member of its women's society. Survivors include one daughter, Sophia Evans, Appleton; one step-daughter, Ruth (Wiebe) Buwalda, Waupun; six grandsons, Dustin Evans, New York and his friend Joan Shangold; Craig (Lori) Bresser, Waupun, Randall (Peggy) Bresser, Brandon, Steven (Kate) Bresser, Waupun, Brian (Flora) Bresser, Brandon, and Tim (Debra) Bresser, Eau Claire; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Betty) Ver Meer, Waupun; and two sisters, Johanna Treffert, Racine and Irene Wilderman, Waupun. She was preceded in death by both husbands; one sister, Dina Redeker; two brothers, Heinie and James Ver Meer; two granddaughters, Julie Bresser and Gail Evans; two sons-in-law, Carl Bresser and H. Dustin Evans. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun, the Rev. Robert Hekhuis officiating. Interment was in Alto Cemetery, Alto, Visitation was held at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Kohls Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family. |
