Monday, February 27, 2006 RANDOLPH - Alvin Posthuma, 66, of rural Randolph, died unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 24, 2006, in the emergency room at Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., at Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church in Randolph. The Rev. Walter Goers Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Randolph Cemetery. Alvin was born in the town of Randolph on Nov. 28, 1939, the son of John and Clara (Hoffman) Posthuma. He attended the East Friesland Parochial and Randolph High schools. He was united in marriage to Jane Flegner. Alvin worked for Rockwell of Randolph for a duration and then with Alto Dairy for 43 years, retiring on Dec. 14, 2001. In his free time, Alvin loved the hobby of farming. Alvin was a member of Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jane, Randolph; two children, Dale Allen (Dawn) Posthuma, Cambria, and Brenda (Jeff) Vande Zande, Randolph; two grandchildren, Richard Allen (Jenny) Posthuma and Steven Allen (Brenda) Posthuma; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Drake Posthuma; his mother-in-law, Viola Flegner, Randolph; five sisters, Agnes Schmidt, Grace (Orlin) Fietz, Sylvia (Tiny) Smith, Jeanette (Jerry) Tjepkema and Claraine (Ron) Buteyn; three brothers, Jake Posthuma, Cliff (Alice) Posthuma and Jim (Betty) Posthuma; two sisters-in-law, Winnie Posthuma and Theresa Posthuma; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eli and Carl; his father-in-law, Walter Flegner; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Schmidt and Larry Flegner, and one sister-in-law, Betty Posthuma. Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, and on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 .m. The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, is serving the family. |
