Paduk

Paduk is a game that has a huge fan base in Korea and throughouth Asia. Known as Go in the west, it is a strategy game in which the players attempt to control territory on the board and prevent the other player from doing the same. Paduk is extremely popular in Korea, with several cable channels dedicating time to teaching the game, and a station dedicated solely to Paduk.

Paduk is played with black and white piece made from glass or higher quality materials for the more expensive sets. The boards range from a 9x9 board for beginners to a 19x19 board for advanced players.

The object of this game as stated is to control territory (or reqions) of the board. This is determined by the lines the players piece is touching. The opposing player blocks the move by positioning pieces in a blocking position. Visit GoBase.org for a detailed discussion of rules and strategy.
A new player can learn the basic game in under an hour, but to master Paduk, you will need several years of experience.
