RUST!! CANCER!!!! TINWORM!!!!!

There, got the idea. Just because your Fiero is not all metal doesn't mean it is safe. Pretty much any place where two pieces of metal join, or where road gunk gets sprayed and seldom dried out can rust. Have a look!

Here's a nice scene. At *1* the shock tower has been removed, not a hard job considering the lack of support. *2* is where the battery should be be. Not a lot left here. *3* is where the tower was attached. It's a double thickness and survived in good shape. *4* and *5* are the side of the battery box wall and the inner side wall between the engine and fender. OOPS! They should be there. The yellow visible is the plastic outer fender. the white is the upper section of the body.

Next one is a rocker panel.*1* is a steady series of rust throughs. *2* is the plastic flap which attaches on the bottom of the rocker. This is all under the plastic rockers or aero rockers. literust.gif (60622 bytes)
This is the cavity where the pass side headlight is mounted. *1* is the rusty edge at the trunk moulding lip. *2* is the crook where the wheel well and light cavity meet. It's shaped to hold crud and start this.

These are my parts car. It has beautiful rust free doors. My builder has rustouts along the inside lower door , go figure. Someone before me has repaired some of the similar rust you see here although it's coming back. We'll attend to it when we get there. Mostly beside the engine on both sides.

The underside catches road crap in the little holes in the floor pans and they get rusty as well.
That's today's horror story, off to bed chidren. Back to Gary's.
