The first time, one could see a Flemish lion in Flanders, must be some where in 1302, when Flemish warriors encountered the much better equiped and trained French soldiers at the "Groeninge Kouter", there they defeated the French army, and according to the legend, the warriors gained their strenght after they had seen a man, called "The lion of Flanders".
The it was the symbol of whole Flandern, untill now. The Waffen-SS troops used many variants, also Flemish collaborationist parties used several shields. Here we will give some additional explanation and a REPRO ALERT also.
