Denise Robertson arrived on the athletics stage in 1973.  She became the arch-rival of Olympic silver medallist Raelene Boyle, and the two traded victories in domestic sprint events throughout the next decade.

Robertson married Australian Pole Vault Champion Ray Boyd in 1978.  Today their daughters Alana and Jacinta are top-class junior athletes.
