Emmy Brookes - 1938

  • Born 1913, Port Melbourne
  • Australia/Victoria

Emily Brookes became Victoria's first national women's athletics champion in 1933 when she won the 100y event.

Brookes was one of the best Victorian athletes in the early 1930s and amassed a collection of championship trophies and medals.  Her best performances came in the sprints, though she competed in other events with mixed success.

The young Victorian retired a week after the 1933 titles and married.  Fourteen years later, her daughter Valda Crockett became Victorian junior sprint champion.
