Anna Pazera emigrated to Australia
after the 1956 Olympics, where she had competed for Poland.
In 1958,
she became the first Australian woman to set a World Record in a field
event, when she threw 57.40m to win the Empire Games Javelin
championship.
She competed in another two Olympic Games and two
Commonwealth Games for Australia before retiring in 1968.
Pazera is
the only Australian to have set a World Record in a throwing event.
