Rosa Winter and her sister Irene were two of the stars of NSW women's athletics in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
Their cousin, Nick Winter, had been the Olympic Triple Jump champion in 1924 and the sisters excelled in field events too; particularly the High Jump.
Rosa Winter was the first national High Jump champion in 1928 and she retained this title in 1930 and 1932, setting national records on the way and becoming the first Australian to clear 5 feet. |
