Welcome to Ginie and Helma’s place! We decided to put together a website in order to reach out to our family and friends! This version is an English-only so far, but we are working on a Dutch and French version as well (which hopefully will be done soon. If not, you are welcome to email us for complaints!).
For those no so familiar with one of us, or both of us, here is a little summary…
Once upon a time, a little girl American-Dutch called Helma thought it would be a good idea to get her doctorate in political science at the University of Maryland, just like her daddy who is also a Maryland Alumni.
Once upon a time as well, another slightly older French little girl called Ginie decided to go to the US to pursue her doctorate in political science after several year in Korea. She ended up at the University of Maryland since it was the only place that offered her funding.

A couple of years later…
Helma was vaguely aware of Ginie’s presence in the department as they had met a couple of times before and chit-chatted lightly. But suddenly, Helma was faced with a dilemma: she was going to Europe to survey protesters and needed to check the French version of her survey...hence using Ginie’s proof-reading capacities…and were never apart since then!
...This is how their story began! Now, several years down the road, the two shared many happy experiences (trips to Europe, passing doctorate comprehensive examinations, every day cat raising with Mikee and Oliver, loosing weight on the South Beach Diet) as well as sadder times (losing their beloved Winston-cat, sharing a crappy place with crappy people, sharing a better place with even crappier people, school harsh funding decision, Ginie’s bouts with depression).
But the beauty of it all is the live and happiness they share every day, and the wonderful family and friends they have, and who make life brighter and more wonderful every single day.
Thanks all for being part of our life!
