Deborah Eileen Sauers's "A Talk With Myself"
© 2004 by Deborah Eileen Sauers
Shall Fear approach my person casually
and be allowed to seize upon my heart?
Keep calm, my trembling flesh, and hear me;
for, the spirit within thee sups not with fear.

My company is with the Spirit of power, love, and peace;
and, only He is in co-residency with me, in here.
Can thou not see, spirit,
that thy foes glory at thine own expense?

I, thy flesh, emplore with thee to get thee,
with me, far away! Go!
Get thyself from thy tormentors!
Get thy whole self hence!

Let my soul rage to reproach thee, thou quivering
mortal mass! To me, now, thou art nothing
but a faulty cave! Can you, my flesh, not see too,
that this day of theirs shall pass?

No, my gentle form, I will not hide
from those sorry hollow hides;
nor, will I allow the real enemy,
behind their eyes, still abide.

Instead, I will pray my Heavenly Father,
those souls to be restored;
so that, the father of fear
will fear and flee their flesh.

Then, might their spirit be reborn of God,
through Jesus, the Lord.
