Some days ago, for the first time this year,
I woke up early on a morning
temperately different from the one before it.
Stepping outside my door that morning,
on my way to work, the air reached out
and caught my breath; but, then it also held it.
I looked around and everything was covered with icing;
as if, nature had been up, before dawn,
preparing, and topping pastries with it.
The world had become a frosted pastry,
eagerly awaited by the sun, who always
gets up at dawn for a dewy breakfast, to consume it.
