Floriana Hall's "Alive Again"
It's good to be alive
Not merely just survive
To inhale fresh autumn air
See leaves falling with a flair.
Six weeks of sitting there--
A comfortable chair,
But inactivity is not me
Creativity's fashion carefree.
Using hands, not just my mind,
Using feet to walk streamlined
Turning, bending, pushing, pulling
Doing housework, even grueling.
To be myself again,
To satisfy a yen,
Life's winter season
Enjoyed with reason.
I'll taste of milk and honey
I'll laugh at something funny,
I'll catch the first snow
Leave footprints below.
I'll behold spring flowers
Climb ivory towers
Hug all my kin
Have joy within.
Summer sun will be jolly
Nostalgia melancholy,
Then when autumn comes again
I'll say, "I made it, Amen."
Most of all, I will pray
Thank God every day
For the gift of being here
With friends and family dear.
