Strolling along the new concrete walks
Besides the new kiddie pool
And all around the park
I saw young mother's with their babes
And Grandma's with their grandchildren
Having so much fun in the sun
Splashing and trying to swim in shallow water.
What a treat to have a place to while away golden hours.
I passed basketball and tennis courts
Occupied by teens practicing their skills
Knowing that all too soon the season will be over
And school will start once again.
A level place to walk with shade under trees,
A baseball field that was lonely,
Like an unread book.
Picnic tables or blankets with families resting
While the coals burned in the outdoor grills
Ready to cook juices out of beef and burn hot dogs.
Tiny tots sliding down the sliding boards
Or swinging in the swings,
High up in the air and low
And daredevils hanging from the bars
Under watchful eyes.
A pavilion with a group of teens
All dressed in the same shirts.
Babies crying, wanting to stay,
Children running around
Or jumping from ball to ball
At Oak Park in Cuyahoga Falls
Where we daily sit on benches
To watch the world go by,
And get up to walk around again,
To give it another try.
