Floriana Hall's "Pilgrims Are We"
We are all Pilgrims as we live each day
Trying to find our righteous pathway.
Instead of covered wagons, though
We live in houses and drive fancy automobiles
Except for unfortunate wanderers
Who can't find a place to stay.
Sometimes we roam the land like Indians did
And the call of the wild attracts us still.
Hiking, we tramp along the paths
To find wildflowers and chickadees
To land in our hand to feed on some seed
Like a ritual ages old.
We study the past and the hardships of yore
And relish all we have learned
We thank God for the privileges we have today,
To live in our great nation,
With television, microwaves and computers
But still yearning for peaceful solutions.
Searching byways to end wars and discrimination,
A journey of the endless pilgrim.
