Floriana Hall's "Misadventures Of Rehab"

When the cold chill air of winter
Creeps into these brittle old bones,
I want to curl up in a blanket and simmer
Like cocoa to drink with scones.
Oh, but wait, I can't eat scones
For they are full of fat
Chocolate does not agree with my system,
Fiddledeedee and drat!
Instead of keeping warm and toasty
I must venture out in this frigid season
To exercise on stationery bikes
To keep on living the reason.
Arm machines are difficult to turn
They bring on some bursitis,
Stair climing apparatus strains
And brings on spinal arthritis.
The drive there consists of detours
Construction is everywhere,
I'm not that fond of driving
But nobody seems to care.
I can't even reach the ticket
When I arrive at the gate,
I have to get out of the car,
FREE parking could make me late.
One day when I was leaving
The gate would not open at all,
The machine had eaten my ticket,
I was trapped, I wanted to bawl.
What to do but keep on going
And doing what I must --
There's no choice in this matter
Requiring exercise, one thing I trust.
That it will help my heart,
My whole body to renew,
I'll get back to aerobics in water
To enjoy and to drink as my brew.
Meanwhile, the people are friendly,
I'm starting to like this place,
It's good to learn something new
A different concept to embrace.
