a white haired man holds a
motherless baby sheep
that suckles the lobe of 
his ear like a nipple.
 
the man is still and 
smiles at the tickling 
warmth of the lone lamb's 
 
sucking. kissing 
the baby sheep,
the man rubs his 
nose back and forth 
through white cotton
 
tufts. his wet ear starts
to tingle and throb
as his eye freezes
in wonder at the
milky substance that
 
drips
      down
            the
                  sleeve
                           of his tartan plaid shirt.
