Lanaia Lee's "The Ice In The Night"
© 2004 by Lanaia Lee
The cold night sea air makes your cheeks a rosy red
We took this journey because we renewed our wedding vows
Little did we know later on half this ship would plunge into the land of the dead
That the sea would engulf this ship by head and bough.

The big piece of ice we hit looms over us like a giant in the night
As everyone runs frantically in a frenzy on the ship's deck
The emergency rockets being fired are so very bright
This ship alone on the sea must look like a small lonely insect.

Lifeboats are being lowered over the ship's side into the cold dark sea
Children and adults running and crying scared of the inevitable
Because they know their time is limited from the cold cold sea
Them knowing their fate is already sealed.

It's hard to conceive you are about to look at death face to face
Knowing he is about to engulf you and snuff out your very life
Immediately ready to take you to a different place
Ready to hand you his deadly sting and strife.

I was one of the lucky ones, as I watch the ship slowly sink from the safety of a life boat
Hearing the tortured cries of people that are about to die
TITANIC leaving a legacy of pain dressed in a multicolored coat
The ship slowly sinks onto the sea as fifteen hundred this night would die.
