Lanaia Lee's "Obliviated"
© 2004 by Lanaia Lee
I awaken this morning just like any other
I await my hand maiden to come help me arise
Another hot day of which makes me feel like I smother
The dry air and awful hot which I have come to despise.

I look around at all the expensive marble and beauty here
My hand maiden walks in and she looks scared
She says,"It's so hot and dry and everything looks so queer"
It seems the Gods are mad, I, myself am too scared.

We must go to the temple and ask the Gods to forgive us
You help me dress then we are on our way
We must appease the Gods this is an immediate must
We must ask the Gods what we should do without delay.

Maybe if we make amends the Gods will favor us again
A whole lot of people have gathered here
All afraid gathered here children, men, and women
We pray to the Gods in unison to ease our fears.

Next the earth trembles and shakes no where to run no where to hide
Buildings falling all around us, we sure didn't want to die like this
The earth opens up and fire is seen as it divides
Total obliviation for us the residents of Atlantis.
