A seamstress she was
designed all my clothes
this one was extraordinary
turquoise and yellow flowers,
my favorite.
Mom and Dad drove to
Oklahoma to her aunt's
funeral. Grandma saved the
day as she babysat us in
their absence.
The dress was for a special
occasion. I wanted to wear
it now, to school. No way!
Grandma scalded but my brother
overrode her power.
I danced to and fro that
morning to school. Was the
belle of the ball until
recess and a game of tag
one grabbed the hem of
my dress not me.
A seamstress she was
designed all my clothes
this one was extraordinary
turquoise and yellow flowers
my favorite now tattered and torn.
