For many years we speed across
the land beyond our sister state.
We travel miles, enjoy the time
at recreation site.  We see
a change this visit.  Plates of states
are few.  Before, facades on cars,
would showcase most United States.

This trip we see one third the states.
The license plates are neighborhood’s
surrounding ones.  We see effects
of nine-eleven’s travel stats.
More people ride closer to home.
