Haley Diane Volpe "Flowers For Georgia"
© 2003-2004 Haley Diane Volpe
I walk alone in silence
Upon holy, sacred ground
So I do not disturb
The souls at rest.

The writing on her stone
Floods my head and heart
Of innocent years
Long ago lost.

Every year I come
To remind her
I have not forgotten
She still lives
In my blessed memories.

I often wonder if she knows
The many thoughts I have of her
How my heart breaks
At the mere mention of her name.

I came across her parents
On the day my Grandfather passed
A simple hello and hug was shared.

Many more words
Were inside my soul
Wanted and needing to let them know
I carry her with me always.

Yet the words were never spoken
Fear of causing more sorrow and grief
caused my silence.

So every year I'll come
Bringing her flowers
In remembrance of
Her young life she took so long ago.
