XHL PLAYOFFS: THE FIRST XHL DYNASTY IS BORN |
9/03/03 - The Ocean Spartans have hoisted the XHL Cup again. This is their 3rd Cup out of the 4 seasons the XHL has been in existence. The only time they didn't win the cup was last season when they didn't make the playoffs. As an underdog going into the playoffs, the Spartans demanded respect by pounding on teams they were predicted to lose to in each round. The Spartans had a Playoff record of 16-4 as they eliminated GMax (#8), K.Bendl's Killers (#1), Rock Ass (#2), and the Canucks (#5) on their way to the top. The Spartans beat the best to prove that they are the best in the XHL! The Playoffs were very exciting this season with more teams involved than in previous seasons. The new teams made this league tougher and more interesting than ever before. More news about next season will be announced by the end of the month. Congrats to everyone on having such an awesome season. This was the best season yet! Email me if you have any questions about next season. I'm really looking forward to another great one! |

XHL 2003 WESTERN CONFERENCE OWNER'S MEETING: AUGUST 24TH in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (6:30-9:00pmPT @ Kage's Apt. - Pizza, Drinks, & Snacks) Hosting Team: CS Northridge (Kage - Northridge, CA) |
8/25/03 - Northridge, CA - XHL Rivals from the Western Conference met yesterday, as CS Northridge hosted the first official XHL WEST Owner's Meeting. This meeting was set up so that all of the GM's who could attend would be able to get together and have a great time. 4 XHL WEST GM's, and 1 new GM were all able to be there. Kage (CS Northridge), Aldo (GMax), Eric Chao (Matadors), Jenny (Halos), Manny (Joining in Season 5), and some other friends too. The night consisted of Snacks, Coke, Pizza, Beer, Xbox, hanging out in the apartment, and talking shit. Some GM's were meeting for the first time so this was an opportunity for everyone to meet their enemy! In the 3 hours we were together, issues were brought up about next season's salary cap, expansion draft, and how teams will be affected by the new teams joining in Season 5. Thanks to everyone who was there. It was fun to have everyone together. We should definitely do it again next season. For more info about the XHL EAST Meeting, please look below. |
XHL 2003 EASTERN CONFERENCE OWNER'S MEETING: JULY 31st in LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK (12:30-10:30pmET @ GEI - Lunch, Dinner, & Roller Hockey) Hosting Team: K.Bendl's Killers (Kevin Bendl - New Hyde Park, NY) |
8/01/03 - New Hyde Park, NY - GEI was back together again yesterday, as K.Bendl's Killers hosted the first official XHL Owner's meeting. This meeting was set up so that all of the GM's who could attend would be able to get together and have a great time. 6 XHL EAST GM's, 2 XHL WEST GM's, and 1 new GM were all able to be there. Kevin (K.Bendl's Killers), Ryan (Canucks), Eric (Erock), Brian (Rock Ass), Bernie (Mariners), Greg (Spartans), Kage (CS Northridge), Jenny (Halos), Mike (Joining in Season 5), and some other friends too. The day consisted of a Roller Hockey Game on Greenway East, making music in KBKill's basement, Wendy's, the Pizza Place, and hanging out on the block all day talking memories and talking shit. Out of the 10 hours we were together, the only improvement suggested was to create a section of the website dedicated to "fag of the week" (basically a different picture of Aldo every week). Thanks to everyone who was there. Just being around everyone again was awesome. |
XHL EAST vs. XHL WEST - WHO IS MORE POWERFUL?!?! |
6/30/03 - As you look at the list of who made the Season 4 all-star teams, you'll notice a lot more surprising players in the West when compared to the East. Amazing players like Naslund, Roenick, Kovalev, & Weight didn't even make the Eastern team. That is because the East has been a much stronger conference so far this season. The league decided not to go into a 2 Conference format for the playoffs yet because this was expected. Despite a history of strength in the East, the Western powers dominated the Playoffs last season and both made an appearance in the XHL Finals. The East has been stronger again this season but when the top powers of each conference battle it out head-to-head in the playoffs, that's when the good teams are separated from the best teams. After last season's Finals, this season's continued improvement, & next season's player rankings change, we all might start to see a little bit of shift in power from the East to the West that might even things out. May the best team win, no matter which conference they are in! |
ALL-STAR TEAMS ANNOUNCED!!! - WHO'S IN!?!? WHO'S OUT!?!? |
6/28/03 - The best of the East and the best of the West created two All-Star teams this past week during our Season 4 All-Star Break. Each GM/Owner sent in their All-Star Votes to determine the players that would make up these two great teams. The GEI XHL All-Star Break was originally created to display the best talent of the League in an All-Star Game. The first two seasons had actual all-star games unlike seasons 3 and 4. NHL2K3 didn't have an easy format for us to create and play two all-star teams against each other. Because of this, the main reason in seasons 3 and 4 to have this break is to put a spotlight on the players who have been kicking ass in our league 20 games into the season. It's also really interesting when we get all of the GM's perspectives in choosing who these top players in our league are. Names like Lemieux, Sundin, Federov, Kariya, Foote, & Hatcher might be expected for the East. There are players like Klee, Delmore, Williams, & Marchant who might have been surprises. The surprises are what makes this All-Star break interesting. Finding those players that play a lot better than their ranking is what makes being a GM in our league very interesting. It's awesome to see players like that making our All-Star teams next to those great names listed above. In the West there were many more surprises than in the East. Surprises like Boynton, Witt, Timmonen, Bell, Walz, Marleau, Doan, & Hecht just to name a few. Some of these surprises on both sides might end up becoming every year all-stars in the NHL and/or in our league for a long time to come. |
6/14/03 - The best match-up so far in Season 4 brought together the #1 team in the Northeast Division (K.Bendl's Killers) versus the #1 team in the Atlantic Division (Rock Ass). After 14 games, both of these teams were tied for 1st overall in the XHL. Both teams were also tied in the best defense category in our team leader boards. In more ways than one, game 15 decided a new league leader. As expected, both teams proved why they had the best defense in the league. The shot totals were deceiving as both teams got very few scoring chances. There were only 2 real scoring chances for each team. The game was all about defense and which team would eventually get that lucky bounce. Both teams hit the post one time but when KBKill's Pavel Bure hit the post late in the 3rd period, the puck bounced off the back of the Rock Ass goaltender Arturs Irbe and then slowly crossed the goal line. That lucky bounce proved to be the game winning goal as KBKill beat Rock Ass by a score of 1-0. The 3 Stars of the Game were: Arturs Irbe with 22 saves on 23 shots (3rd Star), Pavel Bure with the game winning goal (2nd Star), and Patrick Roy was the 1st Star of the game with 23 saves and a Shutout. Roy is looking like a lock for this year's All-Star Game. KBKill hopes Roy's final season in our league continues to be his best. He has been playing like an MVP this season, his last season in our league. K.Bendl's Killers now lead the league in the race for the Season 4 President's Trophy. |
