You've Got Mail! (Good ideas for LDR's and adding spice to other romances): One of the most obvious things that can really keep a long distance relationship afloat is to send your lover mail! Also in any relationship, variety, romance and creativity are important to keep that fire burning! It can range from a little love letter to a huge boxed parcel full of goodies, but whatever it is it's sure to make them feel special and know that you are thinking of them! Obviously you have to have reached a certain stage so that you are both comfortable with releasing your home address to your partner (which is vital that you do think about!), but the step in the relationship of actually receiving something written by your lover's hand, or a little gift from them is a special one! I am sure I am right in saying noone forgets their first mail from their loved one! Using an old shoebox/ large envelope/ box/ or even buying specially made flat-pack boxes from the Post Office, you can begin to collect items and make a special parcel for your love. **Here is a great link for CARE PACKAGES This site contains many pre-packed care packages with many themes, from "Football Fan", "Chocolate Lover", "USA Pride" to "Student Survival", you could buy and send one of these packages online (priced in dollars) for your loved one, or "steal" their ideas to make one yourself :)!! There is somehting for everyone on there, for friends and loved ones, and military, college, international and online long distance relationships! You can also custom make packages with them, by simply choosing the itemes you want to send individually, they even do virtual cards :)! What a cool site :) Ideas for Parcels: *Look at my seasonal pages for Autumn and also Winter/Xmas ideas (look above for links!) * Homemade cards, * Sew them a special pillow/cushion(many websites have instructions for all kindas of designs, just try a search engine!, or maybe have a look in a local hobbie/craft store?!!) * A Teddy bear to cuddle when you aren't there! * Nice long handwritten letter, its amazing how special it is to read your loved ones words in their writing! * Look in cheap craft stores/stationary shops, these usually sell many little items that are great to include in a parcel, such as keyrings, picture frames, art prints, books, notelets, novelty gifts, candles, stickers etc. Also useful for finding materials to make cards and gifts with yourself! * Many book stores also sell books on how to make crafts and gifts yourself... full of ideas that you can send to your babe! * Scrapbooks, and photo diaries of special events and your relationship etc! * Photos!!, * A little booklet of Love, detailing any fantasies you two share, reasons why you love them, your dreams, a collection of things special to you two, poems, etc... * A collage of words on a sheet of hand-made/art paper, all the words can be ones associated with the two of you, or words that describe your love! * Little gifts, i.e chocolate, sweets, cuddly toy, C.D, etc, * Clothes are always nice! You can either buy them some clothes from a store (be sure to ask for their size first though!) or send them an item of your clothing (can be as meaningful/kinky as you like hehe, such as the obvious, or a sports/team shirt, school tie etc) * Make a small tape of songs that you like, or think they will like, this is especially good when u live in different countries and have slightly different bands/songs around at the time! * Make a cassette tape of your voice, read poetry/book chapters, tell them your fantasies/dreams, tell them how you miss them, then they can send you one back of their voice, so you can hear them whenever you want to! Or, even better, make a home video with a camcorder! * If you live in different cultures, you could send photos of where you live and surrounding landmarks, or postcards and other items which are significant to your city/country! Good places to look for these are in tourist areas, see what kind of things those shops have to offer and either buy some from there or steal their ideas and make your own versions! :) * Pressed flowers! * Ornaments and little trinkets are nice for them to place around their bedroom/house/office to remind them of you!! Things like paperweights, pictures, vases, mini statues, pottery etc... You can either buy them or make them yourself! (remember to package them up securely though and label as fragile!!) *Seasonal themes for Xmas, New Years, Birthdays, Summer etc. * Check out www.lovingyou.com for some great craft ideas and things to send. * Surprise them as a special treat with delivered chocolates or flowers using a delivery service! * Using coloured tissue paper make a "stained glass" window collage of a heart or flower etc. * Bake them some cookies/a cake, marzipan/peppermint creams!! (be careful to pack it in properly if you are sending it long distance, a special delivery service for delictae objects may be better to use!) You could even bake them heart shaped, or theirs/yours initials:) *Using a red ribbon and card/a real pendant, make a heart that they can hang from their ceiling above their bed, or a small one to hang around their door handle! * Make a door plaque for their bedroom, using a funny/sexy phrase. or their name! * Something connected with Feng Shui to improve your relationship! * Any jewellery you buy them/gifts, have them personally engraved with a little message ("i love you"..."forever" etc)... this is available at most jewellery stores and engravers,at a cheap price (usually per letter) and can be done in a day :)! Or why not include their birthstone or yours in the jewellery you choose?!! * Spray your perfume/cologne onto the letters/items you send, very special! PRICES: For a price list of how much a parcel will cost you from the U.K to deliver, check out Royal Mail's website at: www.royalmail.com where there is a postal calculator in the Tools section! A similar calculating tool for sending parcels from the U.S can be found on the USPS website. For other countries look at: Canada: www.canadapost.ca |
Some fun and romantic things to do are listed below: * If you are creative, or just enjoyed your English classes, then why not begin to write a few poems about your loved one/your relationship, and its many aspects etc.... you could send them to your loved one in a special framw, or even collect them and make your own poem book for them :) homemade and heartfelt :) *For seasonal ideas, check out my Autumn page! or the Winter/Xmas page * There are many sites that allow you to send your loved one personalised "gifts", they are ranging from various graphics with a To... and From.... message on them, to snowglobes, pictures, mugs, etc, all virtual, but they are sent to your loved one's email and they can then have them there to save or better still, if they have a website they can adopt it for their site!!!!! A good one I have used is: Gabys Presents Shop * If you or your loved one has a mobile/cell phone then you can use many of the online SMS text messaging services to text their phone for free!! A great free way to stay in touch!Try: www.mtnsms.com www.lycos.co.uk www.genie.co.uk www.freesms.net Although you need to register for some of them, its fairly quick and painless! :) * Send your loved one a virtual bouquet of flowers, very romantic! Some of the best sites are linked below: www.virtualbouquet.com www.virtualflowers.com www.virtualflorist.com *Send your honey a yummy e-kiss! www.virtualkiss.com/ekiss , these guys also have tonnes of stuff on that fine art of kissing :)! Very cute and funny site! *Use instant messagers such as Yahoo!, MSN, ICQ etc, to connect to your love through computer chatting where you two talk privately! They are easy to download from these sites and pretty quick to get the hang of, better than a chatroom in my opinion, although they can still get lag and disconnect suddenly! Grrr! :) *Leave each other a special dedication on one of the MANY romance sites there are on the web, www.lovingyou.com being just one of them, lead your love to it by sending them a link to the page! :) Or make your own website just like this, to share your love and experinces! * Use download sites such as Napster, or iMesh to listen to your other half's favourite tunes ! * Playing games online can be a fun thing to do together, there are many places, such as Yahoo, where you can play against each other at a variety of games! :) (just make sure your love isn't a sore loser hehe!) And make up forfeits for the loser to do, i.e send an ecard, has to make the breakfast, owes you a night of pleasure etc, hehe, lots of fun im sure! * Another nice thing to do is to order something online for them as a present and it will be delivered to them! Many stores now have a website where you can order a variety of goodies for your loved one such as lingerie, cookies, chocolates, jewellery, the new C.D from their fave band, a book, :) ! * You can arrange to chat/call your love in a certain setting, where you both do it in your own environments and yet share the setting together! Such as candles and your special song playing in the background, in the bath, outside in the garden on a sunny day, or under a moonlit sky!! * Find out some funny jokes and share them with your partner, or agree to both visit the same sites together to talk about....laughing together can be a great way to become closer and defy the distance! * Make plans and discuss what you will do, the places you will visit, the evenings you will share etc when you are finally back together!! * For when the two of you are finally together, plan a secret getaway, book a hotel room or a weekend away somewhere, cook them a great meal and then surprise them with the brochure/tickets after the meal!! * Treat them to a special treat, for being so loyal and great to you, even when you are so far apart. Maybe buy them a stay at a health spa, or a day of pampering at a beauty salon, or a hot-air baloon ride, a ticket to an important sporting event etc!! Also, if they have a fave sports team/hobby etc then being them collectable items in these fields can be very special, look on eBay or in hobby stores, or the official websites and fansites etc to see what you can find!! * If you want to seal your online love into a "true" relationship then for a great giggle, you can get "cyberwed", i.e go through the vows online together and get married, hehe although not legally binding its a fun way to show your loved one you are their one and only! Awww! Try www.nadtech.com/wedding.html * Find out the listings for yours and his movie channels and choose a movie to watch together by one renting and one watching on the station,, OR decide on a particular movie and then both rent it... then you both sit down and watch it "together" like a real date :) you can even chat/call one another afterwards to talk about it, very romantic :)! |
