Danielle Duval LeMyre
Writer & Researcher

In the beginning, in North America, were the First Nations, the true Hyperboréens. Their rich tradition was kept tru storytelling and songs.
I cannot render justice to those, so I leave this alone.

Later on, in the 11th-14th century, some Scandinavians and fearless sailors had minimal contacts with our shores, usually gathering goods from the tribes, mostly furs, dried fishes etc.

Eventually, in the 16th century, came the Europeans,
and this is what I write about,
the Early Canadians and Americans who came between 1603 and 1763,
mostly those who settled in New-France.

If you wonder who were my own personnal ancestors,
here are the surnames of a few of my own Grandmothers and Grandfathers, in direct line:
ABBADIE, AMIREAULT, ARBOUR, BARBIER, BLAIS, BOUCHER, BOUCHARD, BOUVIER, COUILLARD, CYR, DEMERS (DuMetz), DROUIN, DUPIL, DUSSAULT, DUVAL, FOUCAULT, FOUGERE (Fugene), FOURNIER, GAUDRY, GAULTIER-LANDREVILLE, GUYON-du-BUISSON, JETTE LAGNEAU, LAROCHELLE, LAFOREST, LEBLANC, LEMIRE, L'EXCELLENT, MARSOLET, MARTEL, MEUNIER, OBRY, OTIS, PAPIN, PELLETIER, PEPIN, PERROT, PICHON, PITHON, de PLANES, POTVIN, PREVOST, PRISQUE-LASPRON, ROBERT, ROUSSIN, ST-AIGNAN, SAINT-CASTIN, SENEZ, SIMARD, TOULOUSE, TOUPIN, TREMBLAY, VERREAU, VIGNAU.

Born on May 13 1949 in Montreal, French-Canadian on both sides of the family, my Mother Renee Olga Drouin Obry (1916-2006) had a Cree Grand Mother and my Father Salluste Duval LeMyre (1917-1996) had links with both the Montagnais and the Abénakis, and both of them spoke English.

I came from a large family which was largely fractured because of the lifestyles common to writers, journalists and artists.

I have several interesting cousins, nieces and nephews for whom music and the arts are important facets of life.

Living in Vancouver for over twenty years I raised two daughters who eventually married,
Kristina King Andersen and Louise King Greene.

I divide my time between Quebec, Sutton, Montreal, Maine, Vancouver and Sherbrooke, with some trips abroad.

My friends are a precious part of my life, they are the salt of my existence, and I thank them for it and for their individuality.

Another of my interests is filming videos of Community events, people and places especially those with ethnic flavour, for I have a great thirst for knowledge and its dissemination. After all, our heritage helps us in it's stead:
the experiences and lessons of our forebears should help all of us:
why should we re-invent the wheel?

In my long courtship with Writing, I developped a special interest about early Canadian History (1608-1793).

My love of Genealogy eventually led me to Writing, and I am working on the 9 volumes Serie "We were there! Canadian, American... Roots" which is a serie about little known early settlers of the 17th and 18th century, courageous Men and Woman who lived in North America and were ancestors to many of us, like Nicolas Marsolet, Bonaventure Marsolais,Marie Marsolet D'Amours, Marie Brazeau, Justine Pichon-Toulouse Papin, Helene Roussin, Elisabeth Mireault,Charlotte Guyon D'Amours de CHAUFFOURS baronne de ST-CASTIN, Anne Pelletier, Rene-Auguste Chouteau, founder of St.Louis, and his sister Marie-Louise Chouteau Papin.

Some of these stories are also written as screenplays, since nowadays much of our folk lore is in film format.

Because of her unceasing support,I have a special regard for my sister Sibelle Arami who does the Graphics for my website and lives in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She is a wonderful Musician
