This view is from the top of a hill overlooking the Belmont(e) Plantation. The plantation consisted of 1210 acres on Leatherwood Creek and was purchased by General Joseph Martin  from Benjamin Harrison, Jr. in 1804.  General Joseph called this plantation "home" until his death on December 18, 1808.  Susannah Graves Martin continued to live here until fire destroyed the house in 1836.

The site is located just outside the town of Martinsville, Virginia.
