Choice of Your Life by DKG80
AN: Well, here's another fanfic. Enjoy. Write back. Send flowers.
Disclaimer: I don't own digimon.
Part 1
Evilmon
Tai's hair started to blow around as an intense wind came up. A
lightning bolt struck the rapidly darkening ground in front of him. The sky
seemed to swirl, and Tai could see down onto Earth. He guessed that everyone
on Earth could see this.
A rip seemed to form in front of him. It grew and twisted itself into a
pure, black sphere. It had a belt with badges around it. All but one was
dark. Tai still could not figure out what that one was.
The sphere jumped in the air.
"I am Evilmon. You may be able to defeat me. But you cannot defeat the
last evil."
"What is it?" Asked Tai, putting up his hands.
"SC. Second chance. A chance to go back into a time when your friends
were alive and uncorrupted. When you didn't know that this world existed.
When you could relax and flirt with Sora. Debate with Matt. Surf the Net
with Izzy. Talk with Joe. And just to make your choice much harder, I'll
put you in this world." Said Evilmon. A glowing white sphere appeared in
front of him.
Tai smiled. "Do you think that you can beat me?"
Evilmon smiled. "If this works, I already have."
He threw the sphere.
Tai, without thinking, grabbed it. It pulsed.
It grew and engulfed him.
On Earth...
Tai's mom stood up from her seat. "Oh no!"
Sora's mom scanned the sky. "Where are our children?"
Matt's dad hung his head. "I'm afraid that they're probably dead. Using
this equipment, I heard the conversation. Tai will be taken back in time, to
another land with the others still alive. Meanwhile, the evil digimon will
have no one to stop him from destroying the world!"
They looked up, to see whiteness.
Part 2
The Ultimate Choice
Tai awoke on a street. Aside from that the sky was pure white, it looked
just like Obida. Before Myotismon. Nothing was destroyed. It was lively.
"Hey Tai!" Matt and T.K. ran out of a nearby building. "What's up?" Asked
Matt.
"Um, out of curiosity, are you divorced? Or dead?" Asked Tai, staring.
"What? Of course not!" Said Matt.
T.K. jumped on Tai, who smiled for the first time in a long time.
Joe and Jim ran out of a building. Jim ran right up to Tai.
"Hey, we're interviewing local citizens for T.V. on what they think of
Obida. What do you think?" He asked.
"Are you a serial killer?" Asked Tai, confused.
"No, why?" Asked Jim, perfectly honest.
"No reason." Said Tai.
The other digidestined ran up. Tai quickly noticed that no one had their
tag/crest or their digivice.
"Hey Tai. Want to go on a date Saturday?" asked Sora.
"It is a pleasure to see you again Tai." Said Izzy.
"Hi bro." Said Kari.
Tai laughed with joy. This world had made them all fine. Matt and T.K.
were not divorced. Jim wasn't a serial killer. Tai suspected that Izzy
wasn't adopted. He also guessed that the Julia scandal had never happened,
and that the armies had no digidestined in them.
But what about the real world? He thought.
As he mulled it over, Izzy spoke. "Hey Tai, my mom said that you could
stay the night. Come on!"
Tai followed Izzy through the streets. He chased Izzy up the steps, and
ran through the door.
"Hey mom! I'm home, and I brought Tai." Called Izzy.
"Great honey. Tell him to dump his stuff in your room."
Izzy sat down on his computer and went to work.
"I just can't figure this out..." He mused.
"What?" Asked Tai.
"It says here that this universe is not real, but actually a universe
created to keep someone in." Said Izzy. "That can't be right."
"It is. Let me explain." Tai told Izzy his predicament.
"Hmmm. I can't help you on that one. You'll have to choose between your
happiness and your duty. But I think you can choose anytime. So, why don't
you stay for a few days, then make up your mind." Said Izzy.
They talked for a while. They went to the mall to look at computers, and
then they ran into Mimi, who dragged them into every clothes store at the
mall. Matt was in a music store looking for a new harmonica, and they
listened to him perform. Julia had just got out of choir lessons, and she
sang them a tune.
On Earth...
"I hope Tai can make the right choice." Said Mimi's dad. "Do it for
Earth!"
"I doubt that I could make the right choice." Said Izzy's dad.
"Could anyone?" Asked T.K.'s mom.
In the digiworld...
Tai lay on Izzy's bed, thinking.
If I stay here for a while, it couldn't do any harm. What with the
vampire and Wizardmon remaining colonies, and the military system, he
couldn't do much, could he? And anyway, as Izzy said, couldn't he stay for a
while before choosing? On the other hand, I don't know if he set the time up
so that it runs faster here than in the digiworld and real world. Man, I
have to choose now. Happiness... Or duty. Oh, I wish someone could help me!
As he was thinking, he got up to get a drink. He tripped over a
dictionary, which was open to the word legacy.
He knelt down to read. Then he realized that he didn't have to.
He saw things in a new light now.
Happiness for life... Or a legacy forever.
Tai smiled. He looked at Izzy. Tai guessed that the dictionary was not
a coincidence. Izzy wanted Tai to go back. Even though going back would
probably destroy the universe and the last remnant of him.
Someone had helped him the right way. Izzy Izumi.
***
The next day, Tai found all of the digidestined and got them in a group.
After explaining everything, he said. "So I am choosing to go back.
Good-bye."
They all nodded. All of them but Sora vanished. So did the buildings
and trees. Soon, they were floating in a white space.
And neither of them spoke or sighed
but their heads they threw back and they cried and cried.
They kissed, they hugged, they said good-bye.
One was whisked away, the other died.
And on Earth most people laughed
but Obida wondered who would come back.
Could Tai defeat Mr. Evilmon?
Or would Earth be destroyed by the bad digimon?
Part 3
And Some Never Came Back
Tai appeared in front of the sphere. The final evil disc flickered and
blackened.
Tai found Walter's knife on the ground. And suddenly, he realized
something.
Without love to care for it, without fear to aide it, without all the
defeated things to help it...
Evil was nothing.
Nothing at all.
The sphere didn't even move as Tai picked up the knife and threw it. The
sphere was hit. It vanished.
And Tai knew that the digiworld was saved.
Tai saw something on the ground. It said: Can bring back beings from the
Realm of the Dead. Only the Realm of the Dead.
Tai smiled. He worked the controls until it said: Digidestined.
He hit the button.
Izzy, Joe, T.K., Julia, and Walter appeared.
Tai was dumbstruck. After he told them what had happened, he said.
"But... Where's Kari? Or Mimi? Or Matt? Or Sora?"
Izzy said. "Tai, there are many 'death' realms. Each one gets its dead
from two dimensions. This one got its from here, and from Insane. Not from
the real world."
Joe sighed. "The others aren't coming back."
Tai hid his grief as well as he could. "Well, let's leave."
They held their digivices high
and were whisked up into the sky.
And back home there was much mirth
About five dead children's rebirth.
But although they would live for years to come,
four would dead, their lives were done.
Though a monument would be made
They would be dead, they could not be remade.
AN: Well, all I have to say is, the moral is, Carpe Diem. Seize the day.
Okay, that was bad. Anyway, did you like it?
