The Crest of Truth (The Ninth Digidestined, Part 2) by KellyE
I was having a really nice dream, when I felt someone shaking me awake. "Come on, get up," came Matt's voice. "Oosh," I thought to myself, "This must be, like, 3
in the morning." Then I thought, "Oh," because I realized that, somehow during the night, Tai had planted his arm right in front of my face. I got up really fast,
hoping that no one saw, and also forgetting that I had slept in and the others had to shake me awake. Everyone started laughing, and I even giggled a little in
self-embarrassment. Then we had to get Tai up, and it took everyone shouting at once also with everyone shaking him like an earthquake, and he finally got up.
"Took you long enough!" Matt said. Tai rubbed his eyes and realized that he was up. "You look like you need some coffee or something," I said. "Yeah, too bad we
don't have any," Tai replied. "Prodigious," exclaimed Izzy from behind the bush that I was hiding behind the other day. "What is it, Izzy?" T.K. asked. "I got an
e-mail from Gennai," he replied. Everyone rushed over, but I stayed still. "Who the heck is Gennai?" I asked. Everyone looked at me like I was doing something
weird. "What?" I asked. Then they all remembered that they had forgotten to tell me who Gennai was when we first met. They described him to me quickly, and I
said, "Okay, so Gennai is a really old man who helps you along in the form of holograms and e-mails to Izzy, and you don't even know where he lives. Did I get that
right?" "Yeah, you pretty much summed it up," Tai replied, then we all went to look at the e-mail. It read:
Greetings kids,
I see that you have found the ninth digidestined. Well, there is another evil digimon planning to take over File Island, and eventually, the whole digital world. As
you know, he must be stopped. He is called "Kentaledibmon" and he is fully digivolved, yet I do not know why he is called that. I cannot give any more info, for I just
like letting you figure the rest out, in hopes of educating you in some way.
Izzy then tried to look up Kentaledibmon, but the computer would act up every time he hit enter. After about 30 minutes, I looked around at the group and found
that Tai had absentmindedly stuck his finger up his nose, and had fallen asleep in that position. Only then did I remember my camera in my pocket and........heh
heh heh. Tai awoke really fast at the click and I stuffed it in my pocket in a hurry, but he still saw it. "I'll pay you a billion dollars not to get that film developed," Tai
said with a worried look on his face. "Oh, no, it'll have to be a lot more than that to convince me not to," I replied, and Tai went white. Then Izzy finally got through
messing around with his laptop, and put it in his pack. I realized that our digimons hadn't made any appearance that morning, and I said, "Hey! Where's
Ksatsomon?" Then everyone noticed that their digimon wasn't there and we found them still lying in bed. "What happened to you?" I asked Ksatsomon. "We're all
just really hungry," she replied. "Hmmm, baybe I can fix that," I said. I wondered how I could though and I checked in my other pocket and voila! I had stuffed it to
bursting with chocolates to stash in my room! I pulled them out and everyone stared. "Where did you get all those????" Joe asked. "Never mind that, let's see if we
can't find some wild fruits to go with or something!!!!!!!" I replied, running off. "Hey, wait for us!" everyone called. Suprisingly, we found some strawberries and
apples. We found a clean place to put them and I placed the pile of chocolates on it too, and all the digimon grabbed one. "Hey, remember to take the wrapper
off!" I said as Agumon attempted to bite into a chocolate with the wrapper on. "Oh. Ohay." he said with his mouth full of chocolate and wrappers. I laughed. I
grabbed an apple and almost bit off the whole side,I was so hungry.
After the "feast", we set off on an "adventure", which was more like trying to find a pool of fresh water for drinking and just getting refreshed. Eventually, we found a
lake, which was pretty suprising, since as far as we knew, there hadn't been any rain that week. T.K. ended up experimenting with dives, because there was a great
spot where the land was high enough and the water deep enough to dive in. I had also been at a pool party the day before I ended up in the digi-world, so with
leaving my clothes on, I had also left my swimsuit on, which turned out to be handy. I stripped off my outer clothes, revealing the Speedo underneath. Everyone, or
at least the boys, stared as I climed up the slope to the "diving area", and pulled off a dive that should have belonged to some diver in the Olympics. I did two
backflips, twisted around in a 360, and evened out when I hit the water.
I stayed underwater for as long as I could, and Tai dived in to see if I was all right. Fortunately, the water was muddy enough to where you couldn't see through, and
I swam close to his leg, and grabbed it. "Aaaaaggghhhhhh! Something's got my leg!!!!!!!! Somebody help!!!!!!
blublublub" Tai yelled as I pulled him under. Everyone got all concerned, and dived after him. Only then did I come up, and brought Tai with me.
"HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SOOOOO had you convinced!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I burst out laughing, and everyone laughed too, except for Tai. "Look at the
water! Should it be doing that?" he said as he pointed at the water, where there were ripples coming straight at us. "Holy cow! What is that???" I asked as Izzy looked
it up. It looked like a plesiosaurus, only with a metal mask, horns, and it was blue with black stripes. "That's Seaserpentmon," Izzy declared when he found it, "It's
attack is 'Hyper Crash', where it uses a varoius body part to attack, depending on how much damage it wants to inflict. It also has another attack, although it is
unidentified. It is similar to Metalseadramon's 'River of Power'. It might even be the same thing." "Well, that's a happy thought, getting sat on by a giant dino-looking
thing," I remarked, and everyone laughed. "Well, are we gonna kick this thing's butt, or what?" Ksatsomon asked. "Agumon, I think that maybe you should digivolve
now," Tai said, not looking away from the monster. "Right," Agumon replied. Agumon digivolve to........ Greymon! "Right, now we can kick this thing's prehistoric
butt," Greymon said with a small laugh, but before he had a chance to attack, Seaserpentmon cried, "Power of the Prehistorics!", and a large beam of power shot
right by me. "Cool," I thought, "Another chance to make Tai freak out." "Nova blast!" Greymon yelled, and it hit Seaserpentmon square in the head. As he was being
deleted, I tossed my tag and digivice on the ground and made myself well-hidden in the nearest bush. "Hey! Over here!" T.K. yelled, and they all grouped around
my stuff. "Where'd Candy go?" Matt wondered out loud, and they all started looking for me. They didn't look anywhere that I'd be hiding, though, because they
didn't know better. :) They all returned to the spot where I'd left my tag and digivice, and Tai picked them up and started bawling his eyes out. I took out my camera
and took a quick snapshot of him and emerged from the bush. Everyone stared. "You better not have *sniff* took a picture of that," Tai said. All I could do was grin
evilly. "NOOOOOO!!!!!!" Tai cried, and everyone shouted in laughter. "I'm glad YOU think it's funny," Tai said, and everyone laughed again, and even Tai grinned
sheepishly. "Well, let's get a move-on," I said, and everyone agreed. We walked a long time, with no particular aim, and Agumon went up to me. I thought at first he
was wanting to keep me some extra company, when he whispered, "Got any more of those chocolates?" I laughed, and gave him two. "Give the other one to Tai,
he's probably hungry too," I said, not totally sure Agumon would, but he did. Suddenly, my tag started acting up. "Hey, guys, maybe you should look at this," I
called, and they all came over. "That means your crest is nearby!" T.K. piped up, and I put a confused look on my face. "What's a crest?" I asked, and Tai replied, "A
crest is a symbol of some good qualitly you have a lot of. See, mine's of courage." "Ohhhh, I see," I replied, and Matt said, "You should follow the path it makes. If
you are going farther away from the crest, the tag glows dimmer and dimmer, and it glows brighter and brighter as you get closer to the crest." So they all followed
me as I ran along, trying to see where I would go. Eventually, we came up to a large rock with a strange symbol on it. "That's the crest? How's it gonna fit in my tag?"
I asked. "You'll see. Just hold your tag up to the crest," Tai replied. I did so, and to my amazement, the rock shrank and slid into my crest. "Well, there you have it,
your very own crest!" Mimi said. I grinned, and examined the crest further. It looked like the number 8 with a circle around it and two circles in the holes, one for
each hole. It was a purplish-bluish color, which is a mix of my two favorite colors. "Well, that was a successful morning," Gabumon stated, and everyone agreed.
"You know, we should try to visit that lake back there on a regular basis. That was fun," I said, and Tai exclaimed, "You call that fun???? I thought I'd die back
there!!!! As long as you promise you won't do that again, I'll come with." "Okay, I promise," I said, with my fingers secretly crossed behind my back. "That's good. We
can go now," he said, and we all tromped off, hoping that the next adventure would be at least exciting, not to mention in our favor if we find some evil digimons.
