Hikari "Kari" Kamiya
VOICE ACTRESS: Lara Jill Miller
Kari is Tai's younger sister. When Tai returned to the real world in Episode 21, Kari recognized Koromon as if they had met before. She has appeared in a few episodes, but she will definitely appear in more as she is the mysterious Eighth Digi-Destined. (Maybe Tai and Matt will get along better now as they'll BOTH have siblings to take care of!) When Tai visited her, he found out that she could see the Digimon on Earth too, just like he could. But for some reason noone else could. Kari was supposed to go to Summer Camp as well, but a cold at the last minute made her have to stay at home. She was feeling much better when Tai came back and he cooked her an egg omlet.
In the later Episodes, we learn that Kari is in fact, the Eighth Digi-Destined and that her Digi-Partner is Gatomon. Kari gives herself to Myotismon because she thought that he'd stop his attacks, but she didn't know that Myo wanted to destroy her and Gatomon so they wouldn't be a threat. The kids thought Myo had been defeated after Angewomon shot him with a Celestial Arrow in "Wizardmon's Gift" but he was just waiting until he could show himself. Venom Myotismon gets defeated by War Greymon and Metal Garurumon after Angemon and Angewomon shoot Matt and Tai in "Prophecy." Kari joins her brother and the others when they return to the Digi-World in "Battle for the Earth."
Upon the return to the Digital World, Kari rapidly begins proving her own abilities to be just as good as the older kids. In "Under Pressure," Kari is very important as she helps Whamon find a way through an underwater cave saving herself and the others. In "The Ultimate Clash," Kari gets taken over by an unknown lifeform and stops the fighting between Matt and Tai. Kari then also takes the kids to another place where they scenes from the past and learn about why they were selected to be the Digi-Destined. We also learn why Salamon got separated from the others Digi-Destined's Digimon. In "My Sister's Keeper," Kari gets sick and Tai and Izzy scramble to find medicine for her. In the episode we learn that Kari always thinks of others, no matter what her feelings are. We also learn how much Tai cares for Kari as he snaps at everyone even getting into a fist-fight with Izzy in "The Crest of Light." We also learn that Kari got pneumonia when she was four and that Tai was responsible for Kari's illness. Kari has long since forgiven her bigger brother, but Tai has yet to forgive herself and wishes he never brought Kari to the Digi-World.
In "The Crest of Light," Kari gets better when Sora finds the medicine that Tai had brought back with them. The mysterious lifeform appears again in this episode in order to defeat WaruMonzaemon and to rescue the Numemon from his rule. Kari succeeds in freeing the Numemon, but then gets sad when they all die trying to distract Wmonzaemon. In "Joe's Battle," Kari and TK build memorial for the Numemon who died. In "Joe's Battle," Angewomon gets in a big fight with Lady Devimon who is protecting Piedmon. We also learn that Kari is afraid of heights in that episode.
