this is a warped au deviating from all established canon. obi-wan is jealous of anakin, qui-gon's dealing with issues of things he never should have done and anakin not even knowing the potential he holds. this is very much an au, in which qui-gon abuses his role as obi-wan's master. obi-wan is jealous and bitter about anakin and lashes out but not with fists nor saber. and he makes a choice, one for the best but leads to his own damnation, down a path he never should have walked.

whee! lightsaber freaky accidents + time travel = qui-gon alive! could it really be? what if you got the chance to go back and fix the one mistake that would lead to a person's death, would you take that chance? that's what obi-wan finds himself doing when by fate or chance he is thrown back in time. it's partily stolen moments, it's a little bit of grieving, but things are never simple. actions have repercussions, and if qui-gon never died on naboo then things have changed...

first and foremost, i adore the t.o.t.o site because not only do they have wonderful stories (and blatant angst) but artwork as well. lovely illustrations decorate this story as you read. always a plus. okay, i'll admit it took me forever, forever, to give this story a chance simply because of the amount of original characters. every time i read this story i'm astonded at the depth and detail of the plot. obi-wan is the main suspect for murder, but if he's indeed innocent-- then that makes him a victim.

this story reminds me of star trek's mirror universe. it's a what if sort of tale. what if the jedi weren't the nice, peaceful, calm order, but a devoted, strict, and merciless one. what if they're rules were harsh, punishments harsher. and what if you were fighting to change all that. what price would you pay to keep your involvment secret, who would you hurt, and what cost would be too much to bear?

~ the sweet science of bruising by writestuff ~ ~obi-wan/bruck, obi-wan/omc, angst, bdsm, non con, series~
the entire series by writestuff is dark and complex and it's not for most people, however i find it well written and unique. this story in the series is about self discovery (obi-wan's in particular) this story takes sum of everything he's lived through before, forces him to examine his actions and be more honest with himself than he's ever dared before. like a rite of passage, everyone in the jedi order must face it. it all starts with an elaborate kidnapping...

yay! boy does keely write a mean tpm story. okay, dark obi-wan is one of my favorite things. dark, angsty, broody, two dimensional obi-wan is just bad, but keely makes him believeable. interspersed with bits of his internal monologue and a sweeping story with a unique ending makes "though night shall fall" stand out from the masses of dark!obi stories. i especially like her mindset of anakin, who usually pisses me off massively in these fics, and the fact that she gives us hope. it's a wonderful story, almost tear enducing.
