Brief Player Report:
Club captain Lorenzo Amoruso was born in Bari where he played for his local team in three different spells.

In between he had stints at Mantova and Pescavo, but it was during his third term at Bari that he established himself as a regular in the side.

He played a total of 75 League games for Bari, scoring seven goals, before joining Fiorentina for the 1995-96 season.

He spent two years at Fiorentina, playing 54 games in Serie A and scoring three goals, before joining Rangers for £4 million in the summer preceding the 1997-98 season.

He made his debut against Celtic at Parkhead, but played only four League games as an Achilles tendon injury, which required three operations, kept him out of the game for 10 months.

Amoruso says: "Last season was difficult because of my injury. I was always asking myself when will I play? Will I play again? Will I be the same player as I was?"

Dick Advocaat showed faith in Amoruso, however, making him captain at the start of the 1998-99 season.

He lifted his first trophy when Rangers beat St Johnstone 2-1 in the League Cup Final on November 29 and went on to complete the treble with two superb performances against Celtic in both the league and the Scottish Cup Final.

Lorenzo can be assured of a place in history as one of the select few who have led the Ibrox club to a domestic treble.
