Brief Player Report:

Tony Vidmar joined Rangers from Dutch side NAC Breda. An Australian "Socceroo" international, he made 62 League appearances for NAC in his two seasons there, scoring four goals from left back.

Before that he had played for Belgian side Germinal Ekeren and at home in Adelaide.

Vidmar came to Rangers as a free agent under the Bosman ruling and made his debut in the 5-0 defeat of GI Gotu in a Champions' League qualifier in July 1997.

Vidmar was no stranger to Scotland. He had played for Australia at Hampden Park when they lost to Scotland 1-0.

He played in 12 League games during his first season at Ibrox and has settled in as a regular contender for a place in Rangers' defence.

Vidmar scored his first goal for the Club with a header in the 6-0 rout of Hamilton in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup in February 1999.

He said: "It's always a great moment to score for your club and it's been a long time coming."

Vidmar held his place in the team for most of the season after Arthur Numan suffered a bad injury. A lengthy run in the team allowed Vidmar to show his true quality.

And he got another chance when Numan suffered a hamstring strain early in the new season.

His stunning, if unlikely, goal against Parma confirmed that Vidmar is a worthy member of Rangers' squad.
