NEED A Money Earning Project IDEA? Create a product that is needed which helps Leaders and girls. Here is what we did. Nuts About SWAPS! is a Girl Scout SWAPS guide with samples and instructions included for more than 30 SWAPS. Instructions are included for an additional 101 SWAPS. Nuts About SWAPS! was written by Girl Scout Troop #198, Girl Scouts of South Texas, as a troop fundraising activity, for our trip to Savannah, GA in June of 2003. Troop members made all of the SWAPS especially for this project. |
Other fund-raising ideas |
1. Your very best way to earn money is Girl Scout Cookies! Sign up for a few extra booth sales. We are doing 14 booth sales this year. Each girl only works 5-6 booths and with 15 girls it works out well. In our area the average booth sale is 100 boxes per 2 hour booth. 2. Car washes: you may say "Not another car wash!". But the reason they are still around is that they are very effective if you have a good location. We did one 2 years ago and the profit was $350.00. Not bad for 4 hours of work. Enlist all of the parents in your troop to help. 3. Craft Sales: Cookie mix in a jar- we did this in May. Sales were slow, time of year was bad. Hot Chocolate Mix in a jar in December- sales were great. Good time of year for craft show. We took pre-orders which really increased sales. 4. Service Unit/Council Events: Try running a snack bar at a Service Unit Event or Council Event. Maybe sell soda's, bottles water, chips, various snacks and have a bake sale at the same time. We were able to do this several years ago, before "THE RULES" changed. 5. Tentative plans include a lock-in for Brownies. Will post results if this one does pan out. 6. Save aluminum cans for recycling. Not a lot of $$ but every little bit helps. 7. The Kroger Stores in TX & LA have a program called the "Share Card". A card is issued to the non-profit organization members and each time a purchase is scanned 1% of that purchase is paid back to the organization. Check with your local Kroger or other store in your area to see if they have a similar porgram. This page will be updated as we find more projects. |
